Почему? or Зачем?

So, the question "Зачем" implies what can be obtained as a result of any actions, that is, for what purpose this or that action was performed.

The question "Почему", on the other hand, reveals what caused the result of certain actions.

For example:

Заче́м ты уда́рил Пе́тю? (for what purpose?) - Что́бы показа́ть, что я сильне́е.

Почему́ ты на́чал дра́ку? (what triggered?) - Потому́ что Пе́тя меня́ оби́дел.

Or:

Заче́м вы у́чите ру́сский язы́к? (for what purpose?) - Что́бы жить в Росси́и.

Почему́ вы у́чите ру́сский язы́к? (what reason?) - Потому́ что моя́ семья́ из Росси́и.
