How to say "I have" in Russian

How to say "I have" in Russian
Comparing Russian and English, you will immediately notice that in Russian there are no auxiliary verbs and therefore very often in the present tense there is no verb at all. So, for example, in the sentence "Это дом" - "This is a house", or "I am in Moscow" - "Я в Москве".

But, in the construction "I have" in Russian, the verb ЕСТЬ in the present tense appears and is transformed into the verb БЫТЬ in the past and the future tense.

Present tense

У меня ЕСТЬ  + what? who? (Nominative case)

У меня есть билет.
У тебя есть время.
У него есть вода.
У неё есть вопросы.
У нас есть работа.
У вас есть идея.
У них есть дети.

Variants of questions: Что у вас есть? Кто у вас есть?
                                    У вас есть время?
                                    У кого есть вопросы?

In the present tense, the gender or plurality of nouns is not important.

Past tense

Unlike to the present time, the gender (masculine, feminine or neuter) will be very important here and the plurality of nouns, since the form of the verb БЫТЬ changes.

У меня БЫЛ/БЫЛА/БЫЛО/БЫЛИ + what? who? (Nominative case)

Вчера у меня был концерт. (masculine gender)
Неделю назад у нас был отпуск.
Позавчера у тебя было время. (neuter gender)
В прошлом году у него была проблема. (feminine gender)
В субботу у вас была вечеринка.
Вчера у неё  были гости. (plural)
Вчера у них были уроки.

Variants of questions: Что у вас было? Кто у вас был?
(for the question что? the form of the verb is always было, but for the question кто? - the form is always был)
У вас было время? У тебя была идея?
У них был урок? У тебя были проблемы?
У кого был вопрос? У кого была репетиция?
У кого было письмо? У кого были фрукты?

Future tense

Unlike to the past time, only the number (singlular and plural) will be important here, since there will be only two forms of the verb БЫТЬ.

У меня БУДЕТ/БУДУТ + what? who? (Nominative case)

Завтра у меня будет день рождения. (singular)
Послезавтра у тебя будет экзамен.
Сегодня вечером у него будет собрание.
На выходных у них будет экскурсия.
Завтра у нас будет встреча
Через неделю у неё будут лекции. (plural)
Вечером у вас будут танцы.

Variants of questions: Что у вас будет? Кто у вас будет?
(for questions of что? and кто? the form of verb is always будет)
У вас будет сдача? У тебя будут уроки?
У кого будет экзамен? У кого будут вопросы?

Conclusion. The verb ЕСТЬ in Russian appears only in the construction "у меня есть" only in the present tense.
And in the past and future, the verb БЫТЬ to be changed by gender and plurality.
