1, 2, 3... How much?

1, 2, 3... How much?
Do you like Math? Number, or 'How much?' ...;)
All this in the Russian grammar we call - the Numerals.
It is not so difficult to learn the name of numerals in Russian. There is a certain system for memorization.

For the beginning, here we will talk about cardinal numerals. In Russian there are also ordinal and collective (but we'll talk about them later;) ).

And the numerals do not affect the plural. These concepts exist separately in Russian grammar and they are not interrelated.
For example, there are words - "книга", "друг", "имя" - and plural forms - "книги", "друзья", "имена" (how to make plural forms we have already discussed here).
But if you start counting, you'll get other forms:
                  книга - 2 книги, 5 книг
                  друг - 2 друга, 5 друзей
                  имя - 2 имени, 5 имён
As you can see, plural forms and forms with numbers are very different.
Why this happens we will find out later.

And now let's begin to learn how the numbers in Russian are called:
1 - один [adin]    While counting, sometimes the Russians say "раз".
    2 - два [dva]
    3 - три [tri]
    4 - четыре [chetyri]
    5 - пять [pyat']
    6 - шесть [shest']
    7 - семь [sem']
    8 - восемь [vosem']
    9 - девять [devyat']
   10 - десять [desyat']

The following numbers will help to form the suffix -НАДЦАТЬ:
    11 - одиннадцать [adinnadcat']
    12 - двенадцать [dvinadcat']
    13 - тринадцать [trinadcat']
    14 - четырнадцать [chityrnadcat']
    15 - пятнадцать [pitnadcat']
    16 - шестнадцать [shystnadcat']
    17 - семнадцать [simnadcat']
    18 - восемнадцать [vasimnadcat']
    19 - девятнадцать [divyatnadcat']

For the formation of numbers 20 and 30 there is a suffix -ДЦАТЬ:
    20 - двадцать [dvadcat']
    30 - тридцать [tridcat']

    40 - сорок [sorak]

In the following forms there is the suffix -ДЕСЯТ:
    50 - пятьдесят [pit'desyat]
    60 - шестьдесят [shyst'desyat]
    70 - семьдесят [sem'desyat]
    80 - восемьдесят [vosem'desyat]

and  90 - девяносто [divyanosta].

As you can see, only the first ten numbers need to be memorized. The rest numbers you can form yourself with the help of suffixes.
    100 - сто [sto]
    200 - двести [dvesti]
    300 - триста [trista]
    400 - четыреста [chytyresta]

    500 - пятьсот [pitsot]
    600 - шестьсот [shisot]
    700 - семьсот [simsot]
    800 - восемьсот [vasimsot]
    900 - девятьсот [divitsot]

    1 000 - тысяча [tysyacha]
    1 000 000 - миллион [million]
    1 000 000 000 -миллиард [milliard]

When you form a complex numeral, for example, 258 - you need to call each number: двести пятьдесят восемь. And while writing, it will not be one long word, but three separate words.

Thus, the names of numerals in the Russian language are not so difficult and even very interesting. Memorise only the first 10 numbers and suffixes, which help to form tens and hundreds.

And in the end, for lovers of Russian and mathematics - the task:
 7 + 10 = ?            12 - 3 = ?            25 - 17 = ?
 5 + 15 = ?            6 + 20 = ?           32 - 18 = ?
 18 - 16 = ?           40 + 7 = ?           115 + 12 = ?
 8 - 1 = ?               19 + 3 = ?           9 + 14 = ?
 18 - 3 = ?             41 + 57 = ?         100 - 25 = ?
